As spelling tests start to go home I’d just like to provide
some clarification on how I grade the three sentences on the bottom. These
sentences are dictated orally and contain words students either already know
how to spell or have learned the spelling/phonics patterns and should be able
to decode them.
The students can earn one point for each of the following:
- · Starting the sentence with a capital letter
- · Ending with the correct punctuation
- · All the words spelled correctly
- · Proper spacing between words
- · Handwriting
This allows for a total of 5 points per sentence.
